Blake Medical Center is located in Bradenton, Florida, just minutes from the beautiful Gulf Coast beaches of Manatee County. Our 383-bed, level II trauma center and has received official verification by the American College of Surgeons. Our hospital is also a proud recipient of the American Heart Association's Gold Fit Friendly Designation for our above and beyond dedication to employees' health.

At Blake Medical Center, we utilize complete computerized charting ("Electronic Health Record") for our patient assessment and care documentation. We also utilize eMAR, our electronic medication administration record for the delivery of all medications provided to our patients, which has significantly reduced errors associated when administering medications. In 2013, our hospital implemented the CPOE (Computerized Physician Order Entry) application called "Advanced Clinicals".

Our Medical/Surgical Department is a 72-bed unit with a mix of semi-private, private, and observation rooms, offering exceptional care for the patients we serve. Our typical patient profile ranges from a diabetic care patient to one who's just undergone an elective surgery. The Medical/Surgical Nursing Team is committed to fulfilling our hospital's mission statement "to provide exceptional care to every patient, every time."

Skill Mix: RN, LPN, Unit Secretary, CNA, Student Nurse ("SNAP")

Major Equipment Used: IV pumps, IVAC, Dinamaps, Dopplers, Lifting Equipment, Accu-Check, Accu-Dose, Crash Cart

Special Certifications Needed: BLS through the American Heart Association; ACLS preferred

Schedules: 12-hour shifts (0700-1930, 1900-0730); Full Time is considered 36 hours per week, including every other weekend; overtime available, but not mandatory; Self-scheduling is available

Dress code: Professional scrubs (individual provides their own; RNs wear royal blue)

Designated Charge Nurse who does not typically take an assignment on the day shift

Lifting equipment available: Opera, Encore, Maxislides, Z-slides

Current licensure as an RN in the State of Florida.

Current certification as a BLS Healthcare Provider through the American Heart Association required.

Graduate of a school of professional nursing.

Previous Med/Surg nursing experience desired.

Customer service abilities including effective listening skills.

Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast paced environment.

Ability to perform work that requires frequent standing, bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, moving, lifting of patients and/or equipment up to 50 pounds.
