General Description:

Under direct supervision will utilize medical, technical skills to provide support to the patient care team.

Essential Function/Duties:

Takes/records blood pressures, temperatures, pulse and weigh patients. Performs blood glucose monitoring. Performs Electrocardiogram (EKG) testing. Sets up and discontinue telemetry monitor. Collects the following specimens for analysis and transport: blood specimen via venipuncture or vacutainer, sputum samples, urine, wound cultures, etc. Applies sterile dressings, removal of sutures, staples and/or drains. Performs all sterile procedures as assigned. Performs stomal irrigation and apply colostomy pouches. Performs oral and tracheostomy suctioning. Administers tube feedings to patients.

Minimum Qualifications: Certified by the Board of Nursing as an Advanced Unlicensed Assistant.

NOTE: This position maybe underfilled as a Care Team Associate the Requiremets Include: Six- (6) months experience in a healthcare setting OR completion of a health related vocational education course of at least 3 months; OR completion of the first semester of clinical education in an associate or bachelor's degree program for a health care discipline.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of medical practices, procedures, and standards. Ability to work with others as a team to ensure quality patient care. Basic knowledge of computer systems and good interpersonal skills.

Physical Requirements (with or without accommodation):

Must be able to climb, kneel and stoop and perform assigned duties under semi-stressful conditions. Visual acuity is required in order to ensure that work is being done correctly. Required to lift and carry objects, including lifting patients. May be exposed to blood-borne or hazardous materials. Position also involves considerable walking, standing, pushing and pulling of equipment.
