SPECIFIC ELEMENTS AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Current knowledge of laws and regulations that govern occupational and environmental health and safety.
2. Medical knowledge of techniques and information needed to treat human injuries/illnesses.
3. Customer and personal service knowledge including needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
4. Knowledge of employer specific equipment, including computer software
5. Monitoring to make improvements or take corrective action.
6. Knowledge of human behavior and performance.
7. Time management; ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects.
8. Computer literacy, ability to work with computerized systems and applications
9. Ability to work independently.
10. Judgment and decision-making, skills.
11. Ability to effectively communicate information to supervisors, peers, or customers.
12. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
13. Pursues professional development to prepare for additional responsibilities and improve current job performance via educational meetings, independent study and maintaining appropriate certification.
14. Assists with departmental CQI program, outcomes management projects and other hospital initiatives.
15. Conducts thorough and complete orientation of all incoming personnel, utilizing the department orientation plan and ensuring all aspects are completed during the orientation process..
16. Promotes collaborative practices among various hospital staff and physicians
17. Evaluates educational needs of staff and assist in the development plans to meet those identified needs.
18. *Utilizes expertise in area of specialization to provide consultation services to health care providers and customers.
19. Assists in assuring that appropriate standards of care, practice and performance, and policy and procedures are in place.
20. Demonstrates professional growth and leadership through continuing education and involvement in professional organizations.
21. Participates in and understands continuous quality improvement activities such as JC and CMS core measures.
Note: This position will be located at the Johnston-Willis Clinic and the schedule will be 12 Noon - 8 PM Monday - Friday.
EDUCATION:
Required - Graduate of accredited School of Nursing with current license to practice in State of Virginia. ACLS certification. AHA Healthcare Provider CPR Certification.
Preferred- BSN degree.
EXPERIENCE:
Required - Minimum one year experience as a staff nurse in the delivery of occupational medicine.
Preferred - Five years dedicated to the provision of Occupational medicine.
