This unique in-office opportunity with Aetna is open to candidates residing within commutable distance to either Aetna's office location in Urbandale, IA.
The hours for the position are Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm local time.
POSITION SUMMARY
As a Registered Nurse (RN) - Utilization Management (UM) Nurse Consultant, you will utilize your critical nursing experience and skills to determine the appropriateness of hospital admissions, continued hospital stays and level of care. Your work will impact the health of individuals through efficient use of their hospital benefits. This position is primarily telephonic but may include on-site reviews.
Fundamental Components of the UM Nurse Consultant position include, but are not limited to:
This position requires good communication skills, primarily over the phone in requesting and receiving medical information to determine the medical necessity of hospital admissions, continued stays and level of care.
BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE desired:
- 3-5 years of clinical RN experience, preferably in the Med/Surg environment, is required
- Managed Care experience preferred
EDUCATION
The level of education desired for candidates in this position is a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
Registered Nurse (RN) license is required
