POSITION PURPOSE -

As a Senior Online Software Engineer you will be responsible for designing, implementing and supporting web applications to support the dynamic growth of Home Depot ecommerce across various channels (web, mobile, tablet). This role requires deep technical knowledge, strategic planning and hands-on execution towards delivering high quality ecommerce applications.

MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES -
  • Partner with Product Management and User Experience stakeholders to clarify requirements and use cases for medium-complexity system enhancements.
  • Work with lead engineers and peers across the enterprise to drive out system design for medium-complexity integrations.
  • Lead a small team of engineers to:
    -Detail technical designs and specifications
    -Enforce coding standards through formal reviews
    -Develop, compile, debug and unit test builds for delivery to QA
    -Ensure web operations and non-functional system requirements are met prior to production deployment
  • Enhance and support a metrics-driven approach to continuously improve code quality
  • Mentor entry-level engineers on proper coding practices
  • Assist triage and resolution for complex production issues as they arise
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS -
  • 4+ years of software development experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
  • 3+ years' experience with Java, Tomcat, WebSphere
  • 2+ years' experience with Web Services, JSON, XML, REST Technologies
  • 2+ years' experience with eCommerce platforms such as ATG Commerce, Websphere Commerce
  • 2+ years of experience working on large-scale eCommerce initiatives
  • Proficient in fundamentals of object-oriented design, data structures, algorithm design, problem solving, and complexity analysis

EDUCATION REQUIRED -
The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.

ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS -
Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

TRAVEL -
Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS -
  • Must be eighteen years of age or older.
  • Must pass the Drug Test.
  • Must successfully complete any required training or orientation courses.
PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS -
Frequent periods are spent standing or sitting in the same location with some opportunity to move about; occasionally there may be a need to stoop or lift light objects (typically less than 8 pounds).
