About this job

This position is open becasue they are entering busy season and they want to get someone trained up before summer hits and they are too busy to train.

This is a contract through the end of the year. IT IS NOT A CONTRACT TO HIRE but they plan to budget this position into 2016 and if this person does well they will get the job.

They are currently seeking a terminal operator to work 1st shift. The hours can be as early as 5AM- and go until 3PM. Some flexibility with start and end time and they will get 10-15 hours OT on occsasion as well as be asked to come in on some saturdays when extra work needs done. This person needs to also be open to working a third shift. this is not a definite thing yet by the manager may open this shift up when it gets too hot in the summer time to work through the day. In the winter time, they will work on the 1st shift.

Musts:
Someone with high mechanical aptitude
Someone with light mechanical/electrical maintenance experience (Mechanical ability is more important)
Able to use Microsoft Excel at a basic level

Preferred:
More in-depth maintenance experience
Experience working at terminal

This person will be primarily responsible for three main areas:

Unloading powder cement from barge- They do this using a large vaccum arm that is remote control powered. This person would sit in a small office structure overlooking the barge on the river (the office is on a floating dock), and manuver the vacccum arm around the barge as it sucks up the cement into kettles located on the floating dock and then the cement travels through a pneumatic pipe to the silo. They will have to tie off the barge at times or move the barge down with ropes as they remove the cement from different sections. This position sometimes requires them to walk onto the barge and unhook the lids from it. After the lids are unhooked they use a crane arm to lift them off and onto the dock while they unload the cement.

General housekeeping - This could be maintaining areas by keeping them clean or performing light maintenance around the silo or the dock.

Operate a Bobcat - That is lowered into the barge via crane arm. It is also operated off a remote control from the dock office. while one person operates the vaccum, the other will manuever the bobcat, essentially using it as a broom to pile the cement in the barge up so it is easier for the vaccum to grab.

Other areas/duties they will spend time in:

Help load and weigh trucks when they come in and pick up cement from the silos.
Change flanges out to switch silo over as well as change flanges and filters out on the kettles on the floating dock.
Sweeping/cleaning areas
participating in ongooing safety meetings
