QA Team Leader

Our client, Globe Composites, is a privately held designer and manufacturer of composite products utilizing advanced materials and processes. Originally founded in 1890, Globe provides turnkey research, design and manufacturing services for industrial, medical, material handling, oil field equipment and military applications. They are currently seeking a driven and ambitious QA Team Leader to oversee the implementation, maintenance, and improvement of Globe's quality program. Manage all company-wide quality policies, procedures, processes, programs, and practices to assure the company of continuous conformance with all standards and regulations. The successful candidate must be committed to ensuring that our customers are consistently satisfied with the product we deliver on time and at a reasonable cost.

Responsibilities:

Provide proactive and real-time feedback to production, engineering, and the customer as to the status of the product moving through the manufacturing facility.
Perform in process inspection on composite components that vary from close tolerance low volume military products to wide tolerance high volume commercial products. Inspection technics include hand measuring tools to Faro arm CMM, durometer measurements, and Instron testing of tensile, tear and elongation.
Contribute to new product discussions with Sales, Design and Manufacturing Engineering and Executive leadership to ensure project Quality expectations are documented and executed for success.
Interact with customers regarding in process inspection, Certificates of Compliance, Customer source Inspection and documentation of compliance with Purchase order callouts.
Lead internal audits to ensure compliance with all stated internal ISO management procedures.
Conduct supplier audits for addition to the approved supplier list, ongoing compliance and risk mitigation.
Develop and initiate quality assurance standards, processes and methods for inspection, testing, and evaluation by conducting hazard analyses; identifying critical control points and preventive measures; establishing critical limits, monitoring procedures, corrective actions, and verification procedures.
Coordinate with operations and engineering to ensure systems, processes and procedures are created and implemented to meet customer expectations for product quality and delivery.
Create common business specific quality measurements and track improvement against these metrics.
Achieves quality assurance operational and financial objectives by contributing information and analysis to strategic plans and reviews; preparing and completing action plans; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; identifying and resolving problems; completing audits; determining system improvements; implementing change, preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions and reporting cost of Quality.
On-going maintenance of QA Program across all departments and functions in compliance with ISO 9001, including quality policy, contract review, project execution, document control, process control, procurement, inspection procedures, corrective action plans, and quality system records.

Technical and Education Requirements

5+ years of experience in an engineering design and production environment with an emphasis on quality evaluation and control methods and procedures.
Bachelors of Science degree from an accredited university in engineering or science related field.
ISO Internal Auditor certified
Strong problem solving skills using methods such as 8-D, as well as familiarity with AIAG requirements including PPAP, PFMEA, APQP, SPC and MSA
Proven experience with ISO QA standards
Solid knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Microsoft Project.
Must have a solid analytical background; ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
Experience with Mil Specifications 45208A, highly desirable
Instron experience, highly desirable
Experience with source inspection for government or military contracts required
