Sr. Network Engineer Job

Sr. Network Engineer needed for a direct hire opportunity with Yoh's client located in Dallas, PA.

What You'll Be Doing:

- Develop plans for a newer Network Traffic Monitoring
- Work with developers, vendors and Engineering to develop the system to support both active and passive monitoring techniques in the network
- Develop a roadmap for migration from existing systems (where it applies) by designing and testing replacement system with existing and new features as identified
- knowledge and experience with existing JDSU Net Optimize design, features and functions
- Experience using and building metrics collection systems
- Familiar with existing vendors and equipment used in telecommunication industry and specific means and methods provided by vendors/models to gather metrics such as: Voice: DMS100/200s,DMS-10s,GTD5s,EWSD,5ESS,DCO, Broadsoft, and Meta-switch, Data: Alcatel/Lucent 7300,CBX, GX,7x50s & 7210, Ciena, Adtran TA500s & others, and various routers and switches from Cisco & Juniper
- Knowledge of protocols such as TR740, SNMP, FTP, TL1 and others
- Experience with open source systems such as Cacti, MRTG and/or others
- Experience with various databases such as Oracle, MySQL and PostgreSQL
- Should also have experience with NoSql & Time-Series databases
- Web application and code development using java, java- script, php, perl, python, unix shell scripting, C and C++
- Basic web server administration and configuration for Apache and/or IIS is also expected
- Develop plans, make recommendations and resolve issues during the development cycle
- Document progress and present ideas to management and Engineering departments
- Understand and develop collection and correlation of physical and logical network topologies
- Identify short term goals and plans that could be implemented in the next year that would help reduce current estimated acquisition costs and improve efficiencies

What You Need to Bring to the Table:

- Education, certification and/or license requirements: Bachelors or Master's Degrees Computer Science, IT, IS or Engineering or equivalent and demonstrable hands-on and direct experience with fulfills job requirements
- Ten (10) - fifteen (15) years of relevant experience - hands on
- Strong working knowledge of a combination of the following: MySQL, Oracle, Linux, SNMP, Time Series Database, Python, SQL, Unix shell scripting, C/C++, Perl, PHP, JavaScript, and SNMP
- Proven skills and well versed and in Network Monitoring Methods and Techniques: TR740, SNMP, FTP, TL1, RMON, NetFlow, IP FIX, Active & Passive Techniques etc.
- Strong organizational skills, ability to multi-task, resource coordination, strong verbal and written communication skills and proven ability to interact with all levels of the organization
- Demonstrated hands-on experience in the analysis, design, implementation, deployment, training, and support of a variety of large and complex projects
- Ability to work independently and in teams, prioritizing multiple projects, issues and tasks with minimal direction
- Ability to interface knowledgeably and effectively with individuals and teams from across all organizations in the company
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by leveraging on-line technical resources, attending conferences, establishing personal and professional relationships, attending formal training classes, and pursuing certifications where appropriate
- Some travel may be required
