About this job

Position summary: This position provides physical therapy services by assuming responsibility for patient care, supervision of support personnel, education, consultation and professionalism.

Position responsibilities:

* Plans and uses therapies involving physical exercise, massage, heat, water, light and electricity

* Utilizes various mechanical and electrical equipment and prosthetic and orthotic devices

* Evaluates, records and reports on patient's response to treatment and progress toward identified goals

* Integrates physical therapy treatments with other aspects of patient care

* Assists patients reach their maximal reasonably levels of function and to cope with their limitations

* Monitors, records and communicates patient condition as appropriate utilizing computerized documentation systems

* Instructs and educates patients and families

* Participates in patient discharge planning

* Provides age and culturally appropriate care

* Orients and mentors new staff members

* Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required

* Rotates between intradepartmental (outpatient, in-patient) and interdepartmental areas as assigned

* Attend Code of Conduct training course annually

* Demonstrate an understanding of and adherence to HCA's Code of Conduct

* Demonstrates conduct that is reflective of THRH's commitment to HCA's Code of Conduct

* Understands and satisfies the needs of the patient population appropriate to the age of the patient served (adults, geriatric, adolescent, pediatric, and parents of neonates)

Adheres to the Standards of Behavior for Terre Haute Regional Hospital as per the Customer Relations Policy

Education:

Completion of Physical Therapy approved by the council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association in collaboration with the American Physical Therapy Association.

Licensure/Certification :

Possession of a valid license to practice as a registered physical therapist issued by the Board of Medical Examiners in the state of Indiana.

Current BLS Certification and Physical Therapy License must be maintained throughout employment with Terre Haute Regional Hospital

Experience:

Physical Therapy in an Acute Care setting preferred.

Member of the American Physical Therapy Association preferred.
