Hammes Bookstore and Cafe on Eddy Street #1129

Job Summary:
This position is responsible for assisting in coordinating the activities of the general merchandise departments, establishing work schedules and setting priorities in conjunction with the Department Manager of General Merchandise. Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
* Setting the example of excellent customer service.
* Presentation of sales floor.
* Will be required to rearrange shelves, help with displays, signing, set up for football season, special events, etc.
* Supervising employees.
* Achieving sales goals.
* Assists in the shipping / receiving department as needed.
* Key holder with opening and closing responsibilities.
* Making good business decisions to help increase sales and protect the store and company of any losses.
* Fills in for other employees during absences, breaks and lunches.
* Opens and Closes store as required by the needs of the business.
* Assists customers on the sales floor. Directs customers to areas of the store where their items are located, and answers routine inquiries.
* Verifies merchandise scans at correct price. Works with DM on items that scan incorrectly.
* Keeping the sales floor in stock.
* Scanning of needed items for planners.
* Prioritizes work so most urgent items are handled first.
* Assist in training of employees on proper cash handling/register procedures.
* Giving disciplinary action as needed.
* Assist in keeping employees informed of any updates and changes to policies and procedures.
* Assigning duties to employees to maintain high business standards.
* Performs other duties as assigned.
