Business Unit's / Department's Mission...
Loss Prevention / Security is responsible for protecting H-E-B's assets by detecting, preventing and reporting and / or apprehending individuals who cause a loss to the company.
Essential Functions / Process Responsibilities include the following; other duties may be assigned as necessary...
Detects and resolves external theft: Identifies, investigates and resolves external theft incidents through recovery or apprehension, taking necessary steps using the productive merchandise recovery guidelines when appropriate.
Identifies and assists with internal cases as directed: Conducts surveillances as directed by the Area Loss Prevention Mgr; reviews DVR; receives and reports confidential information to the Area Loss Prevention Mgr and Region Loss Prevention Director to support internal investigations.
Documents investigative notes and evidence: Writes case reports for Law Enforcement and Corporate Loss Prevention concerning stolen merchandise, theft incidents and other criminal activity occurring at the store /location (e.g., assault, robbery, vandalism, vehicle theft, etc.); as appropriate, testifying in court proceedings as a representative of H-E-B and / or an aid in the prosecution of persons accused of theft and other criminal activity that occurs in the store; maintains and controls evidence.
Documentation and Training: Documents non-compliance of company policies and procedures on weekly activity report, interacting daily with store Partners and management on Loss Prevention related matters to educate and improves theft awareness and maintain a safe store environment.
Administrative Functions: Checks in / out with store leadership upon arrival and departure of assigned store, checking company communication every shift for updated information and direction on the execution of Loss Prevention tasks, strategies and other company business.
Physical Security: Conducts inspections of parking lot, back stock area, receiving dock and other controlled areas to ensure that physical security standards are maintained.
Education and Experience preferred...
HS Diploma or equivalent
2 years experience in investigative auditing and / or retail Loss Prevention
Ability to multi-task with attention to detail
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Bilingual language skills a plus
Ability to work with highly confidential information
Ability to confront individuals in a calm and diplomatic manner
Ability to work in a team environment
Moderate PC skills including Microsoft Office Suite software -- Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Outlook -- as well as computer software programs / applications required by the job
Extensive working knowledge and experience in investigative techniques including good interviewing skills
Physical and Other Requirements...
Function in a fast-paced, retail, office environment
Travel by car or airplane with overnight stays
Lift up to 20 lbs in a regular basis
Work extended hours
Work rotating schedules
Other...reliable source of transportation; ability to access and move around all areas of the store quickly; ability to work on a ladder; ability to make theft apprehensions; ability to conduct visual surveillance of the store
