About this job

Required Background:

4 year degree in Engineering or related B.S. Technology degree.

5+ years in molding/tool design as a manufacturing Engineer

Experience with Injection Molding required

Lean / Six Sigma Training

Programming of Vision Systems a plus.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Provides technical assistance to manufacturing to include troubleshooting problems in molding and molding-related processes and recommending
corrective action.
· Works with manufacturing to identify, document, and establish inspection methods for in-process and final inspection or process controls to ensure
quality of the final product. Designs fixtures to minimize reliance on inspection for product quality.
· Responsible for all aspects of tooling and process development to include concept design, quoting, purchasing, design reviews, build, conditioning,
validation, approval, and production release.
· Evaluates and recommends changes and/or rebuilds to existing tooling, tooling design, and equipment to ensure manufacturing capabilities meet
maximum capacity and cost objectives for the business unit.
· Interacts with vendors to resolve quality and manufacturing issues to include cost, through put, and capacity.
· Identifies and leads projects to implement cost reduction strategies, quick changeovers, waste reduction, improved cycle time, quality
improvements, and new molding technology.
· Assists Quality Engineering in identifying and taking appropriate corrective action on customer complaints.
· Participates in management meetings to identify standard process approaches and to identify key technology needs to reduce costs or capture new
markets.
· Works with the Product Design team on new programs ensuring design for manufacturability and automation opportunities. Provides feedback
where design issues exist that limit quality, reliability, or keep cost targets from being met.
· Works with Center of Excellence and ensures deployment of applicable initiatives.
· Assists in the training of other associates on an as needed basis.
· Ensures product, tooling, and process documentation meet all Quality and Engineering system requirements.
· Ensures proper cleanliness of equipment and immediate area in accordance with company housekeeping, safety, and environmental, and
guidelines.
· Participates in departmental safety programs to include adhering to all EH&S policies and procedures, reporting and/or addressing potentially
unsafe conditions, and participation in accident root cause & corrective action as needed.
· Participates in lean manufacturing activities on an as needed basis.
· Perform other duties as needed or assigned.
