About this job
Prepares, seasons and cooks food for patients, employees and staff in accordance with local, state and federal guidelines in quantities of 200 per shift.
Three to five years progressive experience in institutional or restaurant cooking. Required to demonstrate knowledge in standards for prevention of food borne illness and in modified diets in accordance with the American Dietetic Association standards. High organizational skills also required.
Must be able to speak, read, write, and comprehend English.
1. Ability to work independently and complete assignments in a timely manner.
2. All patients, visitors, staff, and co-workers will be given prompt and courteous attention.
3. All work shall be performed in a safe and sanitary manner.
4. Assists with catered events for food preparation and service.
5. Attractively presents all items with approprate garnish and correct portion size.
6. Each person the cook comes in contact with will be viewed as a potential customer.
7. Follows standardized recipes to meet nutritional needs.
8. Maintains proper handling of all inventories, to include proper storage, rotation, covering, labeling, and dating. All items will be used in a cost-conscious manner.
9. Must be able to perform cleaning duties to include stooping, bending, moving arms, lifting up to 50 pounds, using proper lifting, pushing, and pulling techniques, and working with designated cleaning chemicals.
10. Must be able to stand for long periods of time (up to 6 hours) and work around hot equipment.
