Overview:

This individual will be running the lab independently during the day. They will act as the only chemist and lab manager. There is a technician that comes in at 1pm so there will be some crossover with that individual but primarily they will have all the responsibility. They will do all testing on industrial waste coming in from different clients (primarily automotive industry).

  • Testing includes: Tox-100 Halogen, Weight Factor/Specific Gravity, Flashpoint, BTU, PCB, pH, Total organic carbon, Chemical oxygen demand, Metal analysis-ICP, BTEX, Tox by GC/MS, %Ash, %Water by Distillation, Normality.
  • This individual will need to have good mechanical aptitude as well because they will be troubleshooting and doing an PM work on the equipment.
  • Ordering supplies for the lab, and ensuring they are getting competitive pricing.
  • Profiling and pre-secreening all waste streams to make sure they are a good fit for the company.
  • Participate in daily meetings to sign off on new profiles with upper management.
  • Answer customer questions on results.
  • Help faciliate customer tours of the lab.
  • Run reports within ReportSmith.

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years OR more experience in a chemistry lab.
  • Strong background in wet chemistry.
  • Bachelor's Degree (Chemistry preferred but will consider other sciences).
  • Able to work in Microsoft Word & Excel and learn company's reporting program (ReportSmith).
  • Good communication skills, will be speaking with customers frequently.

This company tests and treats the waste in house. They will be extracting oils from the water to make a burning fuel to sell to local asphalt companies. They will also be precipitating all metals out of leftover water. They have their own biological system on hand to treat the water.
