The Registered Nurse (RN) delivers nursing care to patients who are consistent with the RN's knowledge and skills that are in accordance with hospital policy and procedures. Promotes a positive teamwork environment, which emphasizes respect to all including, patients, families, physicians, staff and other departments.

Utilizing the nursing process provides care for patients with a variety of diagnosis.

Bathes, dresses/undresses patients and assists with activities of daily living.

Serves and collects food trays.

Assists with patient feeding.

Transports, positions and drapes patients for exams and treatments.

Assists patients in ambulating.

Takes and records vital signs, weights and I & O.

Passes and collects bed pans.

Changes bed linens.

Provides encouragement, support and comfort to patients and family members.

Monitors, records and communicates patient condition as appropriate utilizing computerized documentation systems.

Provides age and culturally appropriate care to the adolescent, adult and elderly population.

Assesses plans and evaluates patient care needs.

Carries out physician orders.

Administers prescribed medications, changes dressings, cleans wounds, and monitors vital signs.

Cares for patients requiring long term pain management.

Cares for patients receiving chemotherapy.

Serves as the primary coordinator of all disciplines for well coordinated patient care.

Monitors, records and communicates patient condition as appropriate utilizing computerized documentation systems.

Instructs and educates patients and families.

Assesses and coordinates patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.

Orients and mentors new staff members and assists Licensed Practical Nurses with intravenous medication administration.

Follows Universal Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Responds to all emergencies as needed.

Floats to other departments as needed.

Documents interventions and patient notes in Meditech as appropriate.

Complies with Hospital mission, HCA's Code of Ethics and completes annual education on Healthstream and skills competency check-offs.

Promotes the patient's bill of rights.

Accountable for adhering to the "I am ORMC" commitment.

Understands and supports the nursing philosophy and hospital mission as it applies to the department.

Attends 80% of the staff meetings held during the year.

Adheres to the Hospital's Safety policies and demonstrates safe practices in all patient care.

Current licensure, in good standing, as an RN in the state of Utah.

Current certification as a BLS Healthcare Provider.

ACLS certification is recommended.

Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.

1 year previous hospital experience strongly preferred.

Customer service abilities including effective listening skills.

Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast paced environment.
