An excellent career opportunity is currently available for a Sr. Maintenance Engineer to start up and maintain a new state of the art, one of a kind refrigerant plant at Honeywell's Performance Materials and Technologies manufacturing facility located in Geismar, LA . Geismar is centrally located near Baton Rouge, LA and New Orleans, LA.

Responsibilities:

* Works with capital group to assist with the design and implementation of maintenance/mechanical related projects.

* Requires a general to broad knowledge of the application of mechanical engineering to plant constructability as applied to construction methods and materials, and the economics involved.

* Ensure that all maintenance/mechanical related work meets local, state, national and corporate codes and standards.

* Responsible for maintenance/mechanical PSM compliance (Management of Change, Mechanical Integrity, etc.).

* Initiate and lead productivity and cost savings projects, etc.

* Provides technical direction to maintenance supervisors, planners, and mechanics as required to maintain a robust preventative maintenance optimization program. Where necessary support job planning and shop paper development in support these activities.

* Lead the efforts to implement corporate initiatives related to the local plant site.

* Advise, review, and approve temporary repairs and modifications to equipment -- (piping repairs, vessel repairs, rotating equipment, etc.)

* Interface with equipment manufacturers, specialists, technical consultants, and vendors. Make recommendations on best materials, practices, and technical support resources to maintenance management leaders.

* Develop, maintain and update maintenance documentation (e.g. repair reports, bill of materials, upgrade recommendations) for critical plant equipment.

* Support site Maintenance Department planners and foremen as required for routine repair and maintenance activities.

* Assist reliability engineers and technicians with rotating equipment vibration analysis and condition monitoring data interpretation, and recommend actions based on these analyses.

* Provide the first line of technical support to maintenance foremen and operating personnel for issues related to stationary and rotating equipment maintenance and reliability.

* Provide assistance with equipment performance troubleshooting as requested/required

* Works closely with capital engineers to ensure that process improvements and capital work are done correctly.

* Completes standard work each day and edits and improves standard work processes as opportunities arise.

* Actively identifies and works to eliminate waste in plant processes, procedures and normal work activities.

* Other duties and projects as assigned.

Key Success Factors:

* Experience in chemical, petro-chemical, pulp & paper, nuclear, or pharmaceutical industry

* Self motivated and able to work well as individual contributor or with a team.

* Interacts with people within and outside of Honeywell

* Application of Six Sigma and LEAN manufacturing tools to solve problems.

Basic Qualifications:

* BS in Mechanical Engineering.

* 2 years of experience in chemical, petro-chemical, pulp & paper, nuclear, or pharmaceutical industry

Additional Qualifications:

* Experience in Total Productive Maintenance (TPM)

* CMRP and professional engineering certification

* Field experience applying maintenance engineering principals to mechanical repair work for a wide variety of typical process plant equipment types

* Familiarity interpreting and applying state and federal regulatory requirements governing the operation and maintenance of pressure vessels, boilers, relief devices, tanks and piping

* Knowledge of engineering materials chemical compatibility and application as relates to plant equipment reliability

* Knowledge and practical experience in the application of various welding practices, codes and materials

* Hands-on experience using SAP work management system

* Understanding and knowledge of PSM (Process Safety Management)

* Using Root Cause Analysis, 5-why, Failure Mode Effects Analysis and other tools, provide analysis of failed equipment to determine and eliminate cause(s).

* Self driven with high level of initiative.

* Excellent organization, planning, oral and written communications skills.

* Ability to work and promote a team environment.
