3M is seeking a Technical Aide for the Construction and Home Improvement Markets (CHIM) Laboratory located in Maplewood, MN. Ready to be part of what's next?
Job Summary :
The CHIM Laboratory is part of 3M's Consumer Business Group. This position is a temporary, part-time assignment with 3M's Technical Aide Program and is not benefit eligible. The Technical Aide Program is designed to assist the 3M technical staff in the performance of their Job Responsibilities and is a great way to gain work experience relevant to your educational interests in science and engineering.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Product evaluations and testing
- Assist in execution of experiments and generation of test samples
- Quantify physical properties on a variety of consumer products such as: Masking Tapes, Abrasives, protective films etc...
- Document results using tools such as Excel, Word and PowerPoint
This position is PART-TIME TEMPORARY and limited to working no more than 32 hours per week and 899 hours per service credit year.
Basic Qualifications:
- Completed at least one (1) semester of a post high school degree program from an accredited college or university or three (3) years of 3M experience as a technician in lieu of the above education requirements
Preferred Qualifications:
- Current overall cumulative GPA 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent)
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's level degree program at an accredited university with a declared major in a science related discipline
- Good organizational skills
- Experience working in a hands on environment
- Experience with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word
- Will consider applicants that are available throughout the academic year (8-12 hours weekly while classes in session and potentially 30 hours weekly during the summer) or those available during breaks in the academic schedule (e.g. summer, holiday)
