Under the direction of the Administrative Director performs professional duties involved in all special radiographic procedures, with latitude for independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative. Must have a working knowledge of life-saving techniques and be capable of performing well under pressure. Must have advanced knowledge of the complexities of the angiographic equipment. Must be capable of performing effectively as an integral member of the angiographic team. Is responsible for the assessment, treatment or care appropriate to the ages of the patients served: i.e. Child, Adolescent, Adult, and Geriatric. Demonstrates the ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of the patient's needs; possesses knowledge of growth and development; and has an understanding of the range of treatment needed for these patient groups.

Assists the physicians with therapeutic procedures performed in the angiographic and interventional radiology suites.

Demonstrates knowledge of the occurrence reporting system and uses the system to report potential safety issues.

Demonstrates responsibility for the instruction/orientation of new staff, Senior staff and student technologists learning this, or any, of the techniques required for angiographic and interventional procedures as required.

Effectively capable of dealing ethically with co-workers, physicians, and other hospital personnel.

Has an above average knowledge of nursing procedures such as sterile technique, IV therapy and patient monitoring.

Maintains integrity of specialized equipment by routine inspection, cleaning, testing, arranging for service, etc.

Must be constantly sensitive to the potential complications involved in angiography and interventional radiology and be familiar with and able to perform lifesaving techniques when needed.

Must be familiar with the types, location and application of accessories, contrast media and other supplies utilized in performing angiographic procedures.

Must use and apply all Radiation Safety standards as are necessary when using ionizing radiation on or around employees, doctors and patients.

Performs general radiographic and other related duties as required.

Performs interventional procedures requiring advanced knowledge of equipment, positioning, anatomy, pathophysiology and technique management.

Responsible for accurate documentation of aspects of all procedures performed to include statistical data on patients and procedures as well as medication, vitals, any applicable waveforms, and supplies used in procedures performed.

Approaches conflict, and facilitates resolution to conflict, in an effective, appropriate and timely manner. Seeks assistance from manager/director or HR to resolve conflict if necessary.

Qualifications:

ARRT registered required.

Current UT RT license required.

2 years experience as a registered technologist strongly preferred.

CT experience preferred.
