This position within the Risk Management AML Compliance team is responsible for leading the team and support analytical and technical requests of the AML compliance program. This role includes providing qualitative and quantitative analysis for new model development or fine tuning of existing rules; monitoring AML trends, typologies and making recommendation to implement or improve transaction controls and/or monitoring programs accordingly; interact with AML Compliance teams, Business Technology, Model Risk Management and Internal Audit teams to support or evaluate the AML tools and systems (including ACTIMIZE for transaction monitoring and SAR reporting, ACUITY for OFAC matching and match clearing). This individual will also be required to support/participate in data quality efforts and the expansion of transaction monitoring coverage to new product types.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct research and analysis of internally identified suspicious activity patterns, industry risks, or any complex, critical issues concerning the trends associated with money laundering or other financial crimes
- Develop and deploy ad hoc queries against enterprise data warehouses and the collection of system data for internal metric reporting
- Provide data extraction and data quality check, assist simulation and analysis for model development, fine-tuning or expansion of monitoring coverage to new products
- Document model development/refinement, and provide business justification to meet regulatory and compliance requirements
- Monitor system and model performance by producing & maintaining meaningful, robust metrics and reports identifying Key Performance Indicators (KPI) and Key Risk Indicators (KRI)
- Collaborate with Business Technology partners to ensure the systems supporting the program are operating effectively, implement models and improve implementation efficiency
- Work with Model Risk Management (MRM) or Internal Audit teams to handle model risk management related tasks
- Identify and leverage new data elements, advanced analytics and methodology to assist model development and refinement
- Contribute to the advancement of the teams processes, efficiencies and best practices
- Guide & support team, recognize & develop talent
- Promote a risk-aware culture, ensure efficient and effective risk and compliance management practices by adhering to required standards and processes.

Qualifications

- M.S. degree or above with emphasis in Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Engineering, or related quantitative fields
- Proficiency with statistical and computer software, or other analytical tools such as SAS, R, SQL, Microsoft Word/Excel/Power Point, knowledge in UNIX or PC environment for data extraction, reporting and modeling analysis
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with all levels of the organization
- Ability to work independently as well as provide guidance to junior team members
- Demonstrated project management skills, including ability to prioritize, meet deadlines and follow through on completion of complex, high-profile projects
- 5+ years working experience in analytic or technical fields, prefer in financial services industry (e.g., banking, credit cards, insurance, or analytic consulting firms), or a regulatory agency or law firm involving payment services or compliance issues
- CAMS or similar Certification preferred, or the qualifications to become certified within one-year of hire
- Expert knowledge of AML regulations as well as OFAC laws, and working knowledge of Actimize Suspicious Activity Monitoring, and Customer Due Diligence modules preferred
