Position Summary:
Time Warner Cable currently seeks a Designer for our Design & Planning Department. Below please find a brief description of the essential duties and responsibilities required to function successfully in this position.

Under direct supervision, Prepares and maintains detailed design drawings, schematics or specifications typically using Computer Aided Design (CAD) software. Works closely with design originators (e.g., engineers, designers) to resolve design details or discrepancies, or to prepare drawings of unusual, complex, or original designs, which require a high degree of precision using CAD (Computer Aided Drafting) or CAE (Computer Aided Engineering) equipment. Creates, modifies and controls detailed two- and three-dimensional parts and assembly drawings from engineers ' and technicians ' sketches, plans, written and verbal instructions. Develops and maintains drafting standards and procedures. Evaluates and recommends purchase of CAD/CAE-related computer hardware and software. May work with system management including file maintenance, backup and storage.
Essential Job Functions:
Designs and Drafts FTTP, EPON, and/or HFC optical networks using multiple tools (Bentley, AutoCAD, etc) and CATV standard terminology
Strong Spatial/GIS ability in applications such as MapInfo, ArcGIS, and Google Earth
Understanding of Fiber Design specifications from various architectural formats from differing vendors along differing concepts including splicing documentation and hub FTP reconciliation
Serves as technical liaison for construction and technical operations group
Prepares charts, graphs, and sketches of vertical details and SOW documents in various formats
Documents as-build updates for project reconciliation
Review Design considerations for both short term and long term needs in relationship to node sizing, powering, and addressing
Draw accurate routing conclusions that reflect cost estimate for the availability request
Perform other duties or responsibilities as required or assigned
Job Requirements:
Must have excellent reporting and analytical skills
Design and Drafting Experience and MS Applications
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
Must have working knowledge of city and map reading
Good verbal, written and interpersonal communications
Knowledge of cable TV design
Education/Experience:
High School Diploma/Recognized Equivalent and two to four (2 - 4) years of directly related experience required
