JOB DESCRIPTION

We're currently seeking a for a Project Control Manager contract opportunity in San Diego, CA . This is a great opportunity to work with one of the world’s leading suppliers of a wide range of products, solutions and services in the field of energy technology.

Tech Manager, Field Service

The primary role will be management and coaching of technicians and installers that deploy product and technology initiatives utilizing standards and best practices related to all of our Optical Character Recognition Systems. This position is based in a construction environment with physical outdoor projects. Is under general supervision and performs a variety of moderately complex technical field assignments involving the commissioning, testing, modification, or repair of products and equipment.


QUALIFICATIONS:
Associate's Degree in IT, engineering or related field , or Certificate from Technical school, plus 5 to 9 years of experience or a special combination of education and experience and/or demonstrated accomplishments.


Primary Responsibilities include:
• Develop and execute field QA and QC standards utilizing best practices
• Develop, execute and manage the plan to ensure installation and commissioning standards are followed by all personnel for all projects
• Ensure all safety standards are followed by all personnel and subcontractors for all projects
• Monitors progress and works with technicians and installers as necessary to take corrective action in order to meet project milestones
• Unit Testing – taking nodes and verity that pieces are tied into the system and APS is able to access it.
• Check radars, cameras, loop detectors, etc. to insure the power up and work properly.
• Make sure all of the servers power on.
• Use life traffic to make sure capturing the right information and that the servers and transferring data to the customer accurately.
• Interact with the terminal’s IT personnel telling them the type of data to expect so they can populate their terminals operating system.
• Provide training for customers and/or subcontractors.
• Attend and participate in construction meetings when applicable
• Attend and participate in project and resource meetings for all projects
• Effectively communicate technician and installer issues and concerns to all applicable internal staff members
• Prepare reports and correspondence as needed
• Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor
• Assist the project manager to resolve issues and risks
• Identify and escalate issues as appropriate
• Terminate various low voltage wiring
• Maintain working knowledge of products and/or services- including Hardware such as PC’s, routers, switches, wireless, cameras, loop detectors, photo eyes, radar and wiring
Technical Required Skills:

• Intermediate+ skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
• Proficiency in Win XP/7, Win Server 2003, software distribution, back-up and disaster recovery
• Intermediate to Expert knowledge of PC’s, servers, routers, and wireless
• Intermediate level skills with access tools (VPN, VNC, Remote Desktop)
• Intermediate level XML and SQL skills; ability to write and perform medium to complex queries
• Ability to work independently and as a member of various teams and committees
• Hardware familiarity must include, Routers, switches, wireless, cameras, loop detectors and photo eyes, radar and wiring.
• Experience working with low voltage and high voltage wiring and equipment up to 220VAC
• Knowledge and understanding of series and parallel wiring practices and load calculations
• Knowledge and understanding of Ohm’s Law and basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division) to combine with electrical measurements taken using DMM

Lead the performance of assigned field services projects such as non-destructive examinations and analysis. May be responsible for direction, analysis and reports involving complex test projects.

Assist in planning and coordinating team efforts. Guide less experienced technicians and instruct them in proper and safe operation of equipment. Often work non standard schedules at field locations with exposure to varying environmental conditions.


COMPLEXITY OF TASKS:
Requires thorough understanding of Company products and equipment, engineering concepts and practices. Requires ability to select most effective approaches and adapting standard practices and procedures to resolve complex semi-technical problems. Requires strong communications skills and ability to lead less experienced staff. Decisions and actions are based on individual knowledge and experience and may affect quality, delay schedules and result in rework as assignments are not subject to close scrutiny. Highly complex problems are referred to engineers or supervisor.
