POSITION SUMMARY:

The loss prevention (LP) intern program offers an overview of the Ross and dd's Loss Prevention structure and Best in Class approach to customer service, shrink reduction, and safety culture. During the 10-week internship program, the loss prevention intern will be trained in various functions of retail management and loss prevention within the Ross business model. The LP intern will work closely with the Area Loss Prevention Manager, Store Manager, and District Manager to understand their processes and priorities, while working on various individual projects. Each week, the LP intern will study and complete activities on a variety of topics, including: merchandise protection, shrink reduction, internal theft investigations, external theft, store protection specialist, case management, exception reporting, safety, security, customer service, operational processes, management and human resources responsibilities, and leadership competencies.

During the internship, the loss prevention intern serves as a member of the districts Loss Prevention team, rotating in assignments that include: district LP leadership, store leadership, and store protection specialist. At times, the intern may be asked to oversee the general operations and supervision of the store when functioning as the Manager on Duty. As a result, the intern may also be involved in supporting the opening and closing of the assigned store. As needed, the intern is also responsible for providing great customer service and directing store processes (such as merchandise processing, markdowns, sizing, and front end operations).

Throughout the internship, the loss prevention intern will also be charged with completing a project or thorough review of a specific process; the loss prevention intern will then present his/her findings and recommendations to the Area Loss Prevention Manager, Sr. Area Loss Prevention Manager, Store Manager, District Manager, and other upper-level management at the culmination of the 10-week internship.

Throughout the 10-week internship, Loss Prevention interns will assume shared supervisory responsibility for up to 20 Retail Associates in assigned store and work in a support role for multiple units.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

*Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time (up to 8 hours per day).

*Must be able to raise or lower objects weighing up to 25 lbs, from one level to another (includes upward pulling).

*Must be able to regularly bend, stoop, or crouch (frequency and duration will vary per daily business need).

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

*Shared supervisory responsibility for up to 20 Retail Associates in assigned store and 75 Store Protection Specialists in assigned area.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Interested students meeting the following requirements are encouraged to apply:

* Must currently be enrolled in 4-year college degree program, criminal justice, loss prevention, business, or retail management preferred; must currently be in Junior standing planning to graduate between December 2015 and August 2016
