The reporting location is the Ocotillo Wells District Headquarters in Borrego Springs. This position works under the direction of and reports to the District Senior Park and Recreation Specialist. This position is the lead person for the resource management maintenance crew, which is a part of the district natural resource management team, tasked with carrying out a range of field and resource management and resource maintenance-related duties primarily at Ocotillo Wells State Vehicular Recreation Area (SVRA), and occasionally at Heber Dunes SVRA. The incumbent must possess knowledge and skills required for exotic plant removal and fencing. Leadership and organizational skills, as well as developed skills in landscaping, fence building, purchasing, project planning, and a willingness to work in a positive team environment with State Park natural and cultural resource specialists are highly desirable. The incumbent will lead seasonal staff as well as CAL FIRE crews and volunteers. The Park Maintenance Worker I will be requested to study for a Qualified Applicator Certificate (or higher certification) from the California Department of Pesticide Regulation. The incumbent's work schedule will be Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM. This position may work up to 1500 hours per year. State housing is not available.
