RN Critical Care Transport

BSHSI POSITION SUMMARY Provides high quality holistic patient care including assessment, triage, and treatment utilizing standards and guidelines established by Bon Secours Virginia, Medical Director(s); assesses the nature and extent of illness or injury to establish and prioritize the care needed to provide safe transport of the acute/critical patient to the appropriate facility; utilizes the nursing process to provide care to the patient and family while collaborating with physicians and team members; advocates for patients and families in the transport environment; is qualified to provide care for patients across the life span; is responsible for carrying out the mission and goals of Bon Secours Virginia while assuring that safety remains the highest priority throughout the transport continuum. JOB REQUIREMENTS 1. Must be a Registered Nurse and currently licensed by Virginia State Board of Nursing with no violations or restrictions.2. Preferred to have a minimum of two years of critical care experience (ICU and/or ER).3. Preferred to have at least 6 months nursing experience in at least two of the following categories: NICU, PICU, L&D, and Adult Critical Care. 4. Must maintain current CPR, ACLS, and PALS certification and is required to obtain NRP within six months of hire.5. Must obtain a specialty certification such as: CFRN, CTRN, CCRN, or CEN within three years of hire.6. Capable of performing general and advanced procedural nursing duties.7. Must have superb diagnostic and clinical skills and be able to obtain an excellent history, perform a rapid primary and secondary assessment and formulate a treatment plan while including all team members.8. Must have excellent multi-tasking skills as well as perform tasks with minimal direction or supervision.9. Must be willing to cross-train in all areas of specialty transport including NICU, PICU, CVICU, ICU, CCU, ER and L&D.10. Preferred experience in pre-hospital patient transport.An essential function of this position is to comply with BSHSI Policy (SYS.HR.NUR.001) which requires, as a condition of employment, that all registered nurses with diplomas or associate degrees who apply and are hired after May 1, 2015 complete a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree within five years of start date.
