General Merchandise/HBC Clerk

GENERAL MERCHANDISE/HBC CLERKS insure that excellent customer service and departmental operations are maintained throughout the GM/HBC department. The GM/HBC clerk provides polite, friendly service to all customers; orders, stocks, and maintains all General Merchandise/HBC categories throughout the store; conditions all sections; and insures proper signage and product merchandising. A GM/HBC Clerk should uphold all sanitation standards throughout the department and follow procedures to minimize damage and shrink of product. Other duties include facilitating the seasonal markdown process; processing credits for damaged and discontinued items; managing service issues, sales opportunities, etc. with DSD vendors including Greeting Cards, Books, and Magazines; and performing other duties as assigned by management. QUALIFICATIONS- • Customer service oriented with proven ability to work independently as well as in a team environment • Self-motivation, merchandising creativity, and the ability to aggressively pursue sales • Understanding of retail business • Flexible work schedule including weekends, holidays, and occasional overnight work. • Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs. consistently • Ability to bend, kneel, and stand for extended periods of time
