A successful State Income Tax Accountant will have the following:
- Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; or three years related experience and/or training; and two plus years of experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Knowledge of state income taxes
- State income tax compliance experience
- Tax research and writing skills
- Excellent Excel skills
- Ability to multitask and deal with time constraints
The State Income Tax Accountant Position is responsible for the preparation and analysis of state income tax matters related to compliance, tax planning, audit defense, and various miscellaneous projects.
Primary Responsibilities fall into the following catgories:
- Provide support for the outsourcing of the state income tax compliance process
- Analyze tax positions taken on previously filed returns and provide support of those positions to auditors
- Work with outside consultants on various projects
- Assist with the research, planning, and implement of state income tax projects
- Provide state support for the tax provision process and FIN 48/ASC 740
- Maintain good relationships with other departments such as Legal and Accounting
