As a Technical Architect, you will be the point person and subject matter expert for all product release activities related to, building, deploying, and releasing across all of our environments and codebases. 


 


Primary Responsibilities:



  • Work with the Enterprise Solutions Architect to develop a technology roadmap for the platform including modernization efforts for existing organically grown products

  • Evangelize and implement processes that ensure proper implementation of that roadmap across numerous development teams in the U.S. and India

  • Technical design authority: proposes and implement technical solutions, ensure their integrity, and that the solutions can be built, implemented and maintained within committed time/budget

  • Assist the department in embracing a culture of change and continuous delivery of value

  • Partner with the Performance Team to investigate, recommend and prototype innovative approaches to improve software quality, scalability, extensibility, interoperability, reliability, availability and overall performance of the Optum CAC platform

  • Stay current on technology standards, information management, development methods and emerging 3rd party software through independent research, in order to advise on technology and leverage industry best practices for our platform design/development

  • Provide day to day technical control of development projects by

  • Assisting Project Management in planning technical aspects of projects

  • Support and mentor individual developers

  • Perform deep technical reviews to ensure competent, sound designs are being implemented

Requirements

Required Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or similar technical discipline

  • 5+ years as an Application Architect at an enterprise level

  • 5+ years of experience involved in the design and construction of large enterprise systems using a SaaS/PaaS model

  • 10+ years of expertise involved in the development of .Net (c#) applications

  • 5+ years of involvement with database design and development including T-SQL and/or tuning

  • Advanced knowledge of technologies involved in building a web-scale application such as caching, NoSQL, REST, etc

  • Advanced knowledge of architecture design patterns, principles, methods, technology and standards

  • Proficiency in architecture modeling using languages and tools such as Enterprise

  • Architect, Rational Software Architect, UML, etc

Preferred Qualifications


  • Exposure to NoSQL, JSON Databases, and/or object storage

  • Exposure to cloud technologies (Azure, AWS, OpenStack a plus)

  • Understanding of open source technologies involved in web or mobile development

  • Experience with continuous integration

  • A GitHub account with public contribution

  • Experience shipping commercial software products

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
