We have a full-time/part-time opening for a Front Desk Specialist.

Must be able to work various shifts per week and be available weekdays and weekends.

Wage: $30

Requirements

Requirements/Qualifications:

* Education equivalent to High School graduation or GED.
* Minimum one year experience in a health care setting which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of this position.
* Demonstrated ability using alpha / numeric filing.
* Knowledge of basic medical terminology highly preferred.
* Fluency in written and spoken English required.
* Fluency in written and spoken Spanish preferred.
* Demonstrated ability to set priorities for tasks, to work effectively in spite of interruptions and under minimal supervision.
* Demonstrated excellent customer relations and communication skills.
* Demonstrated ability to listen and communicate with others in a professional and caring manner
* Self-starter, reliable, and dependable.
* Must possess strong verbal and interpersonal skills.
* Demonstrated ability to relate to individuals representing a variety of backgrounds and cultures.
* Must efficiently operate the Clinic's Practice Management system ((Health Port) within three months of hire after attending training.
* Must be flexible with work schedules and able to travel from site to site.
* Willingness to commit to the philosophy and goals of the Clinic.

The incumbent must be able to perform this job safely, without endangering the health or safety of him/herself or others.
Responsibilities: Essential Functions

Essential Functions

Patients Services: Ensure that patients receive quality, timely, professional services in accordance with Clinic's mission and values

Systems Processes: Ensure efficiency, accuracy and accountability of information and data.
Registration Duties:
1. Welcome patients to the Clinic and make sure that patients have arrived for the proper clinic and for accurate scheduled appointment date and time.
2. Set up/maintain front desk to ensure efficient paper and information flow.
3. Maintain high level of respect and confidentiality in handling all patient information.
4. Assist patients in filling out paperwork, as needed.
5. Expedite processing of patient's registration.
6. Monitor registration to ensure an efficient flow
7. Process all paperwork and related information to provide timely and efficient registration
8. Review patient information, input update demographics in patient charts and/or computer.
9. Initiate and ensure accurate information entered on the superbill.
10. Screen every patient for insurance information and/or eligibility to any other state, county, or private-funded programs. Make sure that paperwork is completed and the financial class corresponds with the insurance group selected. Verify all paperwork to ensure proper billing.
Medical Records Duties:
11. File patient charts in an accurate and timely manner.
12. File laboratory results and any other related documents into patient charts in an accurate and timely manner.
13. Maintain filing system in an efficient/organized manner to facilitate easy retrieval of charts and documents.
14. Review patients chart to assure documentation is current and properly filed.
15. Follow-up on discrepancies if any as needed or required.
16. Prepare/pull patient charts for daily clinic sessions. General clerical duties, including typing labels for patient charts.
17. Order and maintain supplies necessary for patient records.
18. Process the release of patient information within fifteen (15) days of request.

Responsibilities:

Communications: Ensure effective, professional communications within and outside of the Clinic setting.
27. Handle patient information with utmost respect and confidentiality.
28. Maintain a professional, friendly and courteous demeanor in the performance of duties.
29. Provide input to supervisor on issues that need attention and/or improvement.
30. Handle patients' complaints or concerns in a professional manner. Refer patient to appropriate management staff for handling or resolution of issues.
31. Communicate by telephone with related agencies or personnel, regarding status of patient's treatment in a courteous and professional manner.
32. Facilitate improvements to patient care by sharing ideas/concerns and helping develop new processes to increase efficiency in the delivery of services.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with regulatory agencies, contractual obligations and funding sources.
33. Perform all job functions, duties and /or services in compliance with regulatory agencies, contractual obligations and funding sources. Assure the handling of hazardous waste in compliance with medical waste policies and procedures.
34. Maintain records/documents in accordance with Policies and Procedures, contractual obligations and funding sources.
35. Follow established safety, environmental, and infection control policies.
36. Perform clerical duties (i.e., discharge, transfers, data entry in accordance with Policies and Procedures, contractual obligations and funding sources.
37. Assist in orienting new staff and or volunteers in compliance with Policies and Procedures

Secondary Duties:
Other responsibilities as assigned by direct supervisor.

Physical Activity: Perform all or some of the following tasks during the work day: reading, writing, speaking, listening, typing and sitting for long periods of time, standing and walking.

Equipment Used: Operate any or all of the following: personal computer, telephone, and copy machine fax machine.
