PPG Architectural Coatings is a respected leader in the paint industry. A business unit of PPG Industries, the world's leading coatings and specialty Products Company, we manufacture and sell our products through home centers, independent dealers, and through a network of company-owned stores across North America. Within our Stores channel, we sell a wide range of architectural coatings and sundry items to industry, builders, contractors, and home owners.

With over 900 retail centers in North America, we continue to grow. Currently we are seeking a Control Store Manager to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Store Manager who is motivated to pursue a broader management role.
The Control Store Manager is responsible for coordinating operational and sales efforts in a single store in addition to overseeing multiple stores in a specific market/geographic area.

Single store responsibilities include:
  • controlling store expenses with in budgeted amount
  • reviewing and taking action on internal reports, i.e. voucher distribution, operation statements, transfers, etc;
  • supporting overall credit policies;
  • achieving sales plan;
  • supervising and training store personnel as required;
  • maintaining neat and orderly store, keeping interior and exterior both functional and attractive.


In the multi-store capacity, the Store Control Manager's responsibilities include:
  • ensuring all stores are meeting sales and operations goals
  • controlling expenses and payroll budgets
  • scheduling store staffing
  • maintaining regular audits
  • managing TSF's, overrides and loss prevention
  • merchandising
  • mentoring new employees
  • and handling personnel issues.

The Control Store Manager is ultimately accountable for ensuring that multiple stores in a market/geographic region are meeting customer service and operational goals while adhering to all PPG policies and procedures including policies on safety, ethics, EHS, financial control and human resources.

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Previous managerial experience.
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to demonstrate leadership in the market.
  • Ability to supervise a large number of employees in a highly effective and professional manner.
  • Proven ability to resolve internal and external customer complaints in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Availability to work and travel within assigned territory 75% of time. Periodic evening hours required for trade organization meetings and customer events.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Internet applications.
  • Ability to understand and carry out instructions furnished in written or oral format.
  • Ability to lift up to 80 pounds infrequently and 40-60 prounds routinely.
  • Must possess a valid Driver's License and have maintained a motor vehicle record within acceptable limits as prescribed by PPG.


PREFERRED:
  • A two (2) or four (4) year degree in a business related field or equivalent work experience.
  • Store management experience in the coatings industry.
  • Broad knowledge of paint and sundry products and their application and use.
  • Strong working knowledge of store operations.
  • Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.
