What will I be doing?


The Senior Analyst for Financial Analysis and Business Support will support the Financial Analysis and Business Support Group (FABS Group) in achieving high levels of performance and value creation activities through reflection of group characteristics and support of key activities. The Team Member will proactively engage with the Finance Operations team in monitoring the progress of hotels in achieving the organization's stated goals.


 


Other key priorities are listed below:

  • Evaluate the efficiency of hotel finance processes and identify opportunities for improvement

  • Plan, organize and direct corrective actions to be taken as a result of financial and operational analysis

  • Responsible for consolidating reporting for the hotel division

  • Responsible for financial and analytical review with an emphasis on monitoring strategic objectives and value creation

  • Responsible for the consolidation of financial data from annual hotel plans (capital budget, operating budget and business plan)

  • Responsible for the consolidation and preparation of advance projections (monthly, rolling projection, etc.)

  • Gather appropriate data or information from all relevant sources (Essbase, Hyperion Planning, field Directors of Finance and Controllers, the Operations Finance team Site, surveys etc.)

  • Analyze data or information by identifying the key metrics used by the Americas Operations team

  • Create and/or maintain ad-hoc models for analyzing data

  • Create mathematical or statistical diagrams and charts for analyzing data

  • Generate reports for distribution to Executive leadership, the Vice Presidents of Finance, Area Vice Presidents of Operations and property level staff

  • Develop and maintain Americas daily, weekly and month end reporting

  • Use Essbase and Hyperion systems and applications to enter data and/or process information

  • Collaborate with Operations Finance and Americas Operations teams to establish specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize and accomplish project and department goals

  • Examine the needs and concerns of hotel finance leaders to determine opportunities or problem areas and provide feedback in the improved reporting tools

  • Communicate with the Financial Analysis and Business Support team and provide them information relevant to the business needs

  • Develop and maintain constructive and cooperative working relationships with other corporate finance groups

  • Research and respond to information requests from internal departments and management

  • Ensure timely customer satisfaction (external and internal) on inquiries and requests

  • Keep up to date on all financial systems

  • Work with Corporate Finance in coordinating accounting changes and variances within the various platforms

  • Attend Corporate and Operations Finance meetings as required

  • Assist in special projects as required

  • Report actions taken or procedural changes necessary to prevent recurrence

  • Assist Corporate Finance and hotel Directors of Finance and Controllers with financial issues and irregularities

  • Recommend and help implement appropriate corrective actions

  • Exceptional critical thinking and both quantitative and qualitative analytical skills with the ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems

  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and decision making skills to consider the relative costs and benefits of potential actions and to provide recommendations for optimal solutions

  • Ability to combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions even among seemingly unrelated events

  • Excellent written and verbal communication and comprehension skills, including the ability to clearly explain complex analytical topics to a wide audience who may or may not be familiar with analytics or the subject matter

  • Absolute discretion and confidentiality regarding sensitive information

  • Ability to work well under pressure and effectively handle multiple, concurrent demands and appropriately prioritize responsibilities

  • BA/BS Bachelor's Degree

  • A minimum of five (5) years of professional experience

  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience in Analytical roles

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint with the ability to quickly learn new programs when required

  • Ability to provide specific examples of being innovative by creating new analysis, spreadsheets, or reporting tools in a previous work and/or class environment

  • Ability to travel as required

It would be advantageous in this position for you to demonstrate the following capabilities and distinctions:

  • MA/MS Master's Degree in Finance

  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience presenting key findings and key analysis to executive leadership

  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience working in various financial systems

  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience analyzing and interpreting financial data including variance analysis, ratio analysis, margin analysis and key performance indicators

  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience in Financial Operations roles

  • Hospitality industry experience preferred

  • In-depth knowledge of Hyperion, Essbase, and PeopleSoft
