A Senior Product Development Engineer is needed for foundry/manufacturing facility in Hanover, PA The primary responsibility of this position is to support major design projects and to engineer new products. Incumbent will work under minimal supervision. The following responsibilities are considered essential job functions: *Follows the Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) process to engineer and design new products *Evaluates design alternatives based on quality, manufacturability, reliability, safety, and cost; supports decisions based on sound engineering principles *Generates and maintains project schedules throughout the design process *Leads or participates in formal cross functional team meetings (e.g. design reviews, drawing reviews, problem solving, Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA), Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA), etc. *Manages the change control process Engineering Change Notice (ECN) for development part revisions *Creates new test specifications/procedures/ methods where required *Coordinates procurement of prototype parts *Identifies and coordinates validation testing and requirements *Generates and/or maintains documentation related to each design project (e.g. tolerance analysis, stress analysis, CAD layouts, DFMEA, Design Verification Plan and Report (DVP&R), etc. *Performs other duties as assigned In addition to the responsibilities captioned above the following supervisory responsibilities may be considered essential job functions: *Conducts performance appraisals for subordinates (engineers and designers) *Organizes resources and establishes priorities *Submits time cards and verifies that hours are properly allocated to work orders *Apprise Director of Product Engineering of product design team projects *Performs other duties as assigned Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: *B.S. Mechanical Engineering or 10 years of equivalent experience; supervisory skills *Knowledge of hydraulic systems *Knowledge of truck steering and suspension systems *Knowledge of manufacturing processes and Lean methods to improve them *Knowledge of foundry operations *Knowledge of materials (especially cast irons and steel) *Knowledge of seal technology and materials *Knowledge of general engineering concepts and principles *Ability to lead a team of subordinates including engineers and designers *Ability to lead cross functional teams *Ability to communicate with internal and external customers (all levels) *Ability to identify and execute strategies to support objectives established by the Director of Product Engineering *Ability to identify, analyze, and solve problems *Ability to collect, organize, summarize and document engineering information *Ability to communicate effectively (oral and written) *Skilled in the use of the MS Office Suite *Skilled in the use of (Computer Aided Design (CAD) software to create parts, assemblies and drawings (e.g. Creo) *Skilled in stress and mechanism analysis using CAD software (e.g. Creo) *Skilled at organizing resources and establishing priorities *Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 5% A plus is someone with patents or that has submitted for patents.
