OBJECTIVE:
Transport consumers to and from work. Apply all policy and procedures for the use and maintenance of Goodwill Vehicles.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualifications: High School diploma or GED preferred. Must be willing to be certified in CPR and First Aid. Must be 25 years of age and have a valid Colorado driver’s license without a history of violations (with a two-year safe driving record). 30-40 hour week position. This position also requires flexibility in the reporting hours as it is a split shift. Routes may start as early as 5:30 a.m. and end at approximately 8:30 a.m. Drivers will report back for work at approximately 2:15 p.m. and end at approximately 5:00 p.m..
It is preferred that the incumbent have excellent communication skills and demonstrate the ability to interact with various types of internal and external customers. It is also preferred that the incumbent have the ability to relate effectively to disabled person. The Consumer Van Driver must maintain a professional attitude, appropriate hygiene, dress and grooming and be punctual and dependable. Incumbent must be able to perform heavy lifting and sitting for prolonged periods. Occasional overtime may be required.
KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS {Essential Functions}
Transportation
T he Consumer Van Driver will develop use sound judgment when speaking with parents and Host Home Providers demonstrating the ability to relate to persons with disabilities and understanding of their needs. The incumbent will transport all assigned consumers to and from residence to day program. The Van Driver must be able to read and understand road maps, maintain, follow and adjust schedule of consumer pick-up and drop off times. The incumbent will follow rules and regulations for driving within the state of Colorado.
Van Maintenance and Safety
The Consumer Van Driver is responsible for the cleanliness of the vehicle’s interior and exterior. The incumbent will ensure all consumers utilize seat belts at all times as well as assist consumers on and off the vans at all times. The Van Driver will ensure the vehicle’s tank is maintained at least half full at all times.
Tracking and Reporting
The Consumer Van Driver will conduct and document vehicle inspection sheet of the vehicle prior to operating and report any vehicle deficiencies to the supervisor immediately. The incumbent will maintain a good working knowledge of vehicle accident reporting.
Relationship Management
The Consumer Van Driver will communicate effectively with consumers, co-workers and staff personnel. The incumbent will communicate concerns and behaviors of consumers with case managers and maintain confidentiality. In addition, the Van Driver will engage and maintain conversations/interactions/responses with consumers that encourage independence and respect. The incumbent will also perform all other duties as assigned or directed by supervisor.
