We currently have an opening for a Regional Mechanic - Reliability Inspector. Qualified candidates must have the ability to travel continuously inside or outside of New England and Northern regions.

Job Summary

Be willing and able to travel as part of the Regional Maintenance crew to Wheelabrator Plants in and out of New England as directed. To assist the Regional Maintenance crew in performing inspections of the boilers, feed chutes, expellers and APC components. Assist with formulation of a scope of work and repair method. Compile and analyze NDE inspection reports on NDE done on the feed chutes, drop off chutes, boiler pressure parts, SDA's and fabric filters. Assist the R-Stamp QC Manager with the management of the R-Stamp program including putting together complete R-1 packages and Code material organization, ordering and tracking. Assist the Regional Maintenance crew with any major projects or boiler component overhauls.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

This position requires extensive travel, approximately 75-100% of the time, among the plants in the region; must be available to work plant outage schedules, day or night, and 12-hour shifts.

Identify problem areas in the boiler and its auxiliaries through visual and NDE inspections. Work with the Regional Maintenance Manager, and Crew to repair problem areas.

Work as part of the Regional Maintenance crew as needed on projects and repairs.

Responds to call-in repair emergencies

Follows safety and environmental procedures, corrects safety & environmental hazards & environmental hazards & reports to appropriate supervisor

Complete training programs within time frame prescribed by plant training coordinator

Maintains and follows all Company environmental compliance, health and safety requirements, policies, procedures and rules.

Completes all required Environmental Management System and Compliance Training.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Familiar with reading and comprehending welding procedures related to SMAW, GTAW and GMAW.

Familiarity with proper rigging techniques and hand signals

Ability to comprehend instructional/vendor manuals, technical data and work orders

Ability to receive and comprehend instructions given both written and verbally; also the ability to perform tasks or functions completely with minimal supervision

Ability to safely operate powered equipment including, but not limited to, industrial forklifts, man lifts, skid steer type loaders, and other mobile equipment.

Education/Experience:

Education: High School Diploma or GED (accredited).

5 yrs experience in power plant maintenance or mechanical maintenance repairs.

Experience supervising crews performing boiler UT profiles.

Experience in inspection, troubleshooting and repair power boilers.

Certified NDE Level II in Liquid Penetrant, Magnetic Particle and Ultrasonic Testing.

Proficient in Excel and Word

Auto-cad experience

Experience in combination of welding, pipefitting, millwright, mechanic, and machinist work is a plus.

Displays thorough knowledge of repairing sootblowers, boilers, A-line equipment, fluid transfer pumping system, automated control valves, turbines, cranes etc.

Must be able to direct, lead, and guide others in order to complete assigned tasks. Ability to travel inside or outside of New England and Northern regions, continuously.

Work rotating shifts, as needed and extensive overtime hours.
