JOB SUMMARY
Responsible to ValleyCare Health System for supporting the corporate mission, vision and values. Responsible to Nursing Department for assessing, planning, delivering, documenting and evaluating nursing care of patients in an assigned area in terms of their individual needs according to physicians orders and in conformance with approved standards, policies and procedures. Responsible to the customer for courteous, accurate, timely service.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND MAJOR DUTIES
Performs job specific responsibilities after completion of system-wide, facility and/or unit specific orientation.
Utilizes the clinical nursing process to provide individualized patient care through assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation.
Demonstrates professionalism in the provision of patient care.
Serves in a leadership role on the nursing unit in patient care and in interactions with other staff/healthcare team.
Responsible for improving satisfaction with patients, physicians and all customers.
Utilizes performance improvement studies to improve clinical practice.
Performs other related duties as assigned EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Completion of an accredited diploma program in nursing or associate degree in nursing from an accredited college or technical school required. Bachelor's degree in nursing or related field preferred.
LICENSURE, REGISTRATION AND/OR CERTIFICATION
Current registration by the State of Ohio as Registered Nurse by Ohio Board of Nursing required. Certification in Basic Life Support by American Heart Association required prior to completion of orientation. Critical care nurses and specialty area nurses require or need to obtain certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support and/or Pediatric Advanced Life Support by the American Heart Association or obtain by attending the next available class.
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Broad knowledge in nursing and professional area / specialty. Knowledge of regulatory, legislative, Ohio Nurse Practice Act and Code of Ethics of the ANA and JCAHO standards related to nursing.
LANGUAGE AND MATH SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent, and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
COMPUTER OPERATIONS
Basic personal computer skills including electronic mail, word processing, basic spreadsheets and work with graphics.
RESPONSIBILITY FOR PATIENT CARE
Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates all aspects of nursing care for patients. Directs and coordinates patient care services, and may be responsible for care delegated by the nurse. Provides teaching plan for patients and assures that patient teaching is completed. Intervenes with patients, families, and medical staff when necessary. Assures compliance for all regulatory agency standards
