About this job
Responsibilities* Adhere to high standards of teamwork by demonstrating adaptability, flexibility and consistently sharing information and resources.
Oversee and perform Front Desk Operating Room clerical tasks, including but not limited to:
Getting report from the day clerk and follow up as needed
Remaining present at the desk to answer calls, walk in questions, receive and distribute tubed products, etc. (except when needed for work reasons)
Scheduling add-ons, urgent and emergent cases, adjusting and coordinating the schedule per Charge Nurse or Charge Anesthesia.
Accurately and completely fill out forms, records, etc. (call-ins, Schedule Change Log, etc.)
Professionally and courteously field and route all phone calls, great and assist all in the OR Front Desk vicinity
Log and assist venders as they come to the desk
Give access to scrubs as needed
Page/assign/contact anesthesia and others as needed and follow up to ensure responses.
Verify patient locations for patient pick up slips and put patients on call as appropriate.
Provide clerical, billing and cycle counting functions
Count all DPCs post-op, compare to schedule case count (write case count on top of schedule), and find missing information
Follow up/verify case count with nursing staff case count
Log, page for and send out specimens
Print labels, wristbands, etc.
Train new team members
Maintain accurate training documentation and checklists
Other duties and projects as assigned

Required Qualifications* Must be able to handle stressful situations think clearly under pressure
Clerical/customer service experience, preferably in a medical setting
Excellent team work and multi-tasking skills
Ability to spell correctly and use proper grammar
Able to work in a fast paced customer friendly environment
Effective time management skills
Excellent customer service skills and interpersonal and communication skills (e.g. ability to provide and receive constructive feedback, seeks constructive approaches to resolving workplace
History of excellent attendance and punctuality (may be required to provide documentation).
High school diploma or General Education Development (GED) credential
Desired Qualifications* Basic medical terminology
Prior MiChart experience
Previous work/volunteer experience in a medical environment
Knowledge of University Hospital policies and procedures
Customer Service-Focused, Multi-Tasker, Friendly, Patient, Compassionate, Empathetic, Dependable and Responsible
Work Schedule Friday 10p -- Saturday 6a and Saturday 10p -- Sunday 6a
Will be required to attend occasional meetings during the work week.
The initial training for this position will be during the week with base hours being 6am-2pm.
