3M is seeking an Operator Formulator for the Personal Safety Division located in Indianapolis, IN. Ready to be part of what's next?

Job Summary :

The person hired for the position of Operator Formulator performs a variety of tasks associated with mixing, formulation and molding operations with related duties to produce a finished product.

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

- Complies with all Safety requirements

- Operate mixing and molding equipment in a physically demanding environment

- Manually lift up to 50 pounds and 15 pounds above the shoulder

- Use various manual and powered material handling equipment

- Follows mixing instructions according to the formulation controlled document and Standard Operation Procedure

- Uses charts and tables to adjust formulation to meet desired test results

- Uses stationary and hand held mixing equipment

- Uses test and measuring equipment

- Performs accurate record keeping functions

- Works with chemicals that are subject to special handling requirements. Hazardous & non-hazardous, both liquid and solid forms

- Trained, qualified and authorized to use half mask respirator during specific tasks

- Disassembles, cleans and assembles equipment components, parts, dies and plumbing

- Performs line changeovers, installs / removes equipment according to requirements

- Recognizes numerous process and product defects, diagnoses and performs process trouble shooting, makes a variety of process adjustments including temperature, line speed, air flow rate, positioning, centering, gap, etc.

- Converts raw materials into a finished good product that exceeds our Customer's expectations

This position will require:

- Working overtime

- Weekend work

- Working 8 or 12 hour night shifts as required

Basic Qualifications:

- Possess High School diploma or GED

- Minimum 1 year of related experience in a manufacturing molding environment

Preferred Qualifications:

- Minimum 1 year experience in formulation mixing

- Minimum 1 year experience in a high speed molding environment

- Minimum 1 year experience working with computer controlled machine interface systems

Location: Indianapolis, IN
