Instructor/Teacher - Learning Leader (Temporary)

To develop and implement curriculum for the Possibilities Program. To effectively instruct consumers in this area so they can maximize their independent functioning in a work and community environment

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor degree in education or in a human service related field is required. Preferable experience in providing services to persons with physical, emotional and/or developmental disabilities.

It is preferred that the incumbent have one year of experience in teaching in the applicable field. The incumbent should demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills, writing and speaking clearly and concisely; demonstrate the ability to interact with various types of internal and external customers. It is also preferred that the incumbent have the ability to relate effectively to individuals with disabilities, their parents, Home Host providers and guardians and be empathetic toward their needs. The incumbent must have the ability to work independently, cooperatively and to exercise effective planning, demonstrating excellent organization skills. The Learning leader should possess excellent time management skills. The incumbent must have a working knowledge of community resources, have the ability to program, train and be creative in motivating consumers toward individual success. The incumbent must also conduct self in a professional manner and maintain a professional appearance that enhances the firm’s reputation. The Learning leader must have experience speaking effectively to various small groups in a presenting/informative role.

A valid Colorado driver’s license without a history of violations (to include successfully completing the company’s vehicle certification program) is required along with successful completion of pre-employment drug screen and background check. Dress code will be discussed and will include uniform shirts provided by the Possibilities Program.

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS

Curriculum Development, Design and Instruction

The Learning Leader will utilize established curriculum that teaches Activities of Daily Living in order to teach assigned consumers how to move towards greater independence. The incumbent will develop new curriculum that meets the objective of teaching assigned consumers daily living skills when necessary. The Learning Leader will monitor individual learning and facilitate training as needed.

Program Documentation, Tracking and Reporting

The Learning Leader will be responsible for documenting curriculum, creating lesson plans and filling in other paperwork, as required.

Relationship Management

The Learning Leader will keep the supervisor informed of progress, considerations, and pertinent information regarding the learning areas. In addition, the Learning leader will participate in team meetings and in-service training sessions. The incumbent will deal effectively and calmly with non-routine situations following accepted guidelines, communicate significant problems to the Supervisor and perform other duties as required by the Supervisor.

Client Care

The Learning Leader will assist in the implementation of program plans, giving reinforcement, providing one-on-one assistance and/or training. The incumbent will assist in the preparation necessary for arrival and end of day client departure. The Learning Leader will communicate pertinent information to rehabilitation staff and assist program participants with transitioning throughout the day. The incumbent will be an active member of the Possibilities team and will assist team members with all client care.

Research and Industry Involvement

The Learning Leader is required to research, keep updated by reading trade journals as needed to be aware of trends, theories or initiatives within the industry and instruction techniques. The incumbent will seek out seminars and symposiums for ideas and stay current with trends, tools and resources available. The Learning leader must also maintain a working and current knowledge of Department of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) Rules and Regulations and Standards of the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) and a good working knowledge of Goodwill Industries’ policies and procedures.

Pay: $11.00/hour
