General Statement of Job

Under general supervision, this position is responsible for assisting with all Port Supply Hub operations. The Hub Assistant is responsible for understanding all operations of the Hub and being able to maintain Hub operations in the absences of the Hub manager.

Coordinate order selection, order packing and shipment; Provide Hub, Store and /or Inventory Managers with timely information as needed. Load / unload van deliveries as directed, perform returns as per standards.

This position reports to the Hub Manager.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions

Work under Hub Manager's general direction to meet or exceed the business unit's annual sales and contribution goals.

Accept and process Customer orders received via phone or fax; communicate any delivery issues to the Customer or the appropriate PS sales rep

Perform release, pick, pack and shipment of Customer orders throughout the day according to published schedules and standard agreements, and to meet Customer expectations.

Assist as directed to monitor backorder reports regularly and, if needed, work with Stores along the van routes and alternate DCs to fill any backorders as quickly as possible

Process all returned product within 1 week of return; Ensure proper documentation is produced, and appropriate notes are included in orders as needed

Process COD payment on accounts for deliveries promptly as directed by Hub Mgr.

Work together with Store Inventory manager for timely placement of backorders and any other product related needs to fulfill Customer orders and drive financial results

Participate with Port Supply Sales teams as needed for strategic planning regarding service or product related needs to meet Customer expectations and Sales team commitments.

Acknowledge and greet Customers that are within a close (ten-foot) radius or ten seconds of arriving where the associate is working. If already serving another Customer, assist Customer with additional assistance from other store staff.

Treat Associates, Customers and vendors better than they expect.

Achieve excellent Customer service. Resolve Customer concerns and complaints in a timely and gracious manner.

Ensure the business unit is neat, clean and organized throughout each business day.

Additional Job Functions

Develop good relationship with supervisor and fellow Associates; attend department and company meetings and department functions when possible.

Exhibit a clean and professional appearance consistent with West Marine store policy, which includes wearing a Port Supply logo shirt; pants or shorts that are neat and clean.

Performs related duties as required.

Minimum Training and Experience

A high school education and prior boating and sales experience helpful. Excellent communication skills. Must be able to work a standard workday as set by West Marine/Boat U.S. Must be able to lift forty pounds to shoulder height unassisted. Must be proficient in Math and English. Must have the ability to wear and communicate through a headset. Must have a flexible schedule and Performance Indicators
