Medical assistants perform a variety of patient care duties including, but not limited to: *Directing and/or accompanying patients to examination rooms. *Preparing and arranging examination instruments, supplies, and equipment. *Verifying patient information with the patient, reviewing and recording medical history, obtaining and documenting vital signs, and confirming purpose of visit/treatment. *Supporting patient care by assisting the physician or health care provider during examination. *Educating patients about medications and treatment procedures. *Serving and protecting the physician or health care provider practice by adhering to professional standards, policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements, and Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) standards. Preferred qualifications: *Completion of a medical assistant program from an accredited educational institution. *Completion of a medical assistant intern/externship. *Credentials as Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) are a plus! *Previous experience with electronic medical records (EMRs) and/or electronic health records (EHRs).
