Job Description

The Resource Registered Nurse (RN) supports professional nursing practice across practice settings and across the continuum of care to meet the needs of the patient and family. The Resource RN provides nursing care to patients and their significant others using an interdisciplinary approach across the continuum of care. The Resource RN uses the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and communicate all phases of nursing care they are involved in. The Resource RN provides leadership in various roles that include, but are not limited to Staffing Pool nurse, preceptor role, committee member, etc. The Resource RN assists with patient admissions, discharges, and transports throughout the hospital providing support and general assistance to bedside nurses in caring for patients driven by patient acuity, volume, or flow issues. The Resource RN (staffing pool role) is assigned to supplement patient care staffing in designated nursing patient care departments. The Resource RN serves as a role model and resource for other staff. The American Nurses Association (ANA) Scope and Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics for Nurses provide a basis for practice.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelors of Science -- Nursing (BSN) degree from an accredited university preferred; 2 years previous experience in a staff RN position preferred
Other Qualifications:
Flexibility (works flexible hours, which include days, evenings, nights, holidays and weekends); Basic computer skills; Ability to read and communicate effectively in English; Leadership, problem solving, verbal and written communication and team building; Basic improvement concepts and techniques.
License or Certification:
Active Wisconsin RN license or ability to practice professional nursing in the state of Wisconsin; Current BLS Certification; ACLS certification within 1 year of hire (if member of code blue team).

Exemption Status: Non-exempt
Hours/Pay Period: 64 hours per pay period
Schedule Details: Primarily 8 hour shifts, 12 hour shifts are optional. Rotating Day, Evenings, and Nights.
Weekend Schedule: 1 of 2 weekends.
Compensation Detail: Education, experience, and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum pay rate is $28.93 per hour.
