SUMMARY
Develop processes and supporting work instructions to document consistent painting methods for military and commercial product. Develop part hanging methods and paint processes during launch of new products for internal and external customers. Improve and maintain current documentation to support paint facilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Identify process improvements in the areas of safety, quality, and productivity
Write assembly and paint work processes and procedures
Determine appropriate paint fixtures and hang tooling
Review and select required special tooling and equipment necessary for paint application
Establish manpower requirements, paint line balancing data, and expectancy time performances
Process documentation and control of paint issues
Train & Monitor painters and topcoat application methods to achieve desired paint finishes
Assist in developing acceptable paint finish standards
Support capital equipment projects during procurement & installation of automation and paint equipment
Assist in plant layout and work station design
Exhibit a high level of computer literacy
Plan, schedule and prioritize work to meet established deadlines
Determine/improve processes to meet production levels
Provide technical support and assist as a resource person in assigned area
Perform stop watch time studies
Utilize Lean/Six Sigma principles and methodologies in making process improvements
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or related field
Internship experience or 6-plus months related work experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Hands-On Paint application and paint mixing experience
Strong knowledge of paint application process
Lean/Six Sigma understanding or certification is ideal
Experience with automotive or heavy-duty equipment
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
