About this job
Practices within the scope of the Illinois Nurse Practice Act to ensure the delivery of comprehensive, high quality, individualized nursing care, based upon knowledge, experience and critical thinking skills.
Assist Nurse Director with daily operations of the unit by providing employee supervision, quality improvement activities, and immediate follow-up to patient, physician and employee issues.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Exercises independent judgment and leadership on daily operations of the unit and advises the Nurse Director
2. Serves as a clinical, educational and supervisory resource to the nursing staff
3. Makes patient/staff assignments based on key factors such as acuity, staff competency and skill mix in order to ensure that quality of care is delivered to patients
4. Manages the appropriate utilization of unit resources (i.e. supplies and labor)
5. Foster an environment of cultural excellence in order to maintain patient satisfaction
6. Monitors Quality Assessment and Quality Improvement on a monthly basis to ensure appropriate patient care on the unit
7. Ensures the enculturation and implementation of the National Patient Safety Goals and Core Measures as required by regulatory certifying bodies
8. Manages and resolves unit conflict and executes service recovery principles
9. Collaborates with Nurse Director/House Manager to investigate, advise, and when appropriate, execute disciplinary action in accordance with the West Suburban policies and procedures
Minimum of one (1) to three (3) years RN experience; proven reliability in a leadership role (e.g. charge nurse/preceptor). BSN preferred. Current IL RN License required. CPR required.
