A social worker helps people achieve more adequate, satisfying and productive social adjustments through the application of social work principles and methods.
Qualifications:
Minimum 1-year experience in health/medical setting. Master's degree in Social Work/Welfare required. Registered with the BBS as an ACSW, preferred.
Knowledge:
1. Human Behavior and Development 2. Psychodynamic and Psychosocial Theories 3. Social Policies and Research (i.e. Needs Assessment) 4. Psychopathologies 5. Crisis Intervention 6. Community Organizations and Resources 7. Discharge Planning Process 8. Social Case Management Principles 9. Entitlement Programs 10. Patient Rights 11. Regulatory Requirements for Mandated Reporting: Child Abuse and Neglect, Domestic Violence and Elder Abuse and Neglect 12. Cultural Diversity
Skills: 1. Age-appropriate Psychosocial assessment and diagnosis 2. Counseling: individual, marital and groups 3. Formulating, implementing and monitoring outcome of age-specific psycho-social care or treatment plan 4. Advocacy 5. Patient, family and staff education 6. Collaboration and consultation 7. Problem-Solving 8. Effective, timely and responsible Communication: Written and Oral 9. Conflict resolution 10. Negotiation 11. Prioritizing cases and assignments 12. Community Outreach 13. Networking Must answer pages and carry a beeper/pager. Local travel may be required.
Minimum Availability for Per Diem status
- Must be available to work a minimum of 2 shifts per 28-day schedule
- Must be available to work a minimum of 2 weekends per 28-day schedule
- Must be available to work 3 holidays per year (at least one holiday must be Thanksgiving, Christmas or New Year's)
