Position Summary:

The purpose of this position is to install, test and maintain services provide by Time Warner Cable. This person will be responsible for the hub sites as assigned to include remote head end equipment at said hub site's to include but not limited to racking, combining, wiring, cable & fiber management, contractor interface on hub specific projects.

Essential Job Functions:

Installation, testing and activation of Edge equipment to support HSD, VOD & SDV capacity requirements.

Troubleshoot and restoration of services.

Assure proper alignment of the optical path and RF levels within the Hub (forward and return setup) including but not limited to transmitters, receivers, monitoring equipment , analog, QAMs, QPSK and CMTS modulators and de-modulators.

Perform and / or coordinate with other department's installation and maintenance of critical Hub Systems.

Activate new distribution optics as required by new build construction or through segmentation work.

Maintain analog & legacy transport optics.

Maintain Hub maintenance logs as required.

Maintain Hub site properties and its associated equipment.

Assist in planning and installation of equipment racking, RF combining, electrical wiring, coaxial cable, and fiber optic management systems.

Maintaining EAS compliance logs and equipment as required.

Perform standby duty/on-call for emergency repairs on a rotating basis. The Hub team is the first responder for all equipment failures related to the hub operations.

Other duties as assigned including support of coaxial plant maintenance as required.

Job Requirements:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Must possess a valid driver's license as well as a good driving record.

Must possess the ability to read and understand manufacture's manuals for operating and repairing of electronic equipment and components and to operate highly specialized test and fiber optic splicing equipment. Must be able to think through and resolve issues. Must be motivated, a self-starter and must work well alone. Computer skills are helpful.

90% Inside, 10% Outside.

Overtime may be required.

Must stand on-call.

Must work in all types of inclement weather conditions.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds with assistance

Preferred Qualifications:

Extensive knowledge of all CATV equipment.

Education & Experience:

Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or at least 3-5 years' Service Tech experience and/or a minimum of at least two years PM experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Five years of PM background or previous fiber optic experience or technical schooling equivalent to meet company requirements. Should have basic knowledge of fiber optic systems, RF plant, and test equipment

To include but not be limited to Spectrum Analyzer, PC, modems, Fiber Optic Power-meter, OTDR, Light source, Optical connectors, fusion splicer's, fiber splicing equipment, data logger, light meter, VOM, FSM, STB.
