As the Associate Director of Actuarial Services, you will perform critical complex research and ad-hoc studies to assist Optum and our clients to understand Medicare risk trends. In this role you will need to understand our clients' objectives to better plan future enhancements to existing methodologies. You will need to be detail oriented, but also to be able to analyze potential risks and to find ways to mitigate these risks. Unique to this position is the ability to greatly impact the clients' revenue.


  


Primary Responsibilities:



  • Perform risk adjustment analytics
  • Perform remediation & risk mitigations
  • Perform compliance risks & financial modeling
  • Perform Medicare Risk-Adjustment - Risk Score Projection & Revenue Forecasting
  • Perform CMS over-payment revenue recovery and capitation payment estimate
  • Provide financial valuations and recommendations to attorney-client privileged litigations and drive research objectives to resolutions
  • Perform industry research and trends analysis to support clients various business objectives such as pricing, bid process and products developments
  • Coordinate with team members and collaborate with clients, specialized external consultants, legal and IT to mitigate multi-billion dollars claims exposures
  • Provide quality revenue forecasting services for multiple clients, assist with financial accruals related to CMS Mid-Year and Final adjustment
  • Develop and maintain financial valuation, allocation and reconciliation methodology to reconcile payment recovery
  • Communicate complex concepts to Executive staff
  • Research and ad-hoc trends studies

Requirements

Required Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree
  • 5+ years of data scientist, actuarial, statistical or analytical experience
  • Experience working in the health care industry
  • Expertise working with formulas, calculations, charts, graphs in MS Excel
  • Basic level of proficiency with SAS (Statistical Analysis System) and/or SQL (Structured Query Language)

Preferred Qualifications:



  • ASA (Associate of the Society of Actuaries) or FSA (Fellow of the Society of Actuaries) designation
  • Medicare risk adjustment experience
