About this job


This position is responsible for ensuring the facility's compliance with company and government safety procedural and guideline requirements. The Safety Coordinator manages all processes and programs in the processing plant as they relate to the safety of the facility.
Job duties to include, but are not limited to the following:

Coordinates all internal and external audits required by the Safety Management.

Maintains the facilities compliance calendar.

Maintains safety performance statistical records and/or charts for facility performance.

Works with facility to ensure compliance with all regulatory agencies

Monitor preventive and incident corrective actions that are completed by the departments.

Review all safety programs, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance and implementation within facility operations as it relates to applicable local, state, and federal regulations.

Assists with workers compensation, loss prevention and general liability issues.

Compile data and develop weekly and monthly reports specific to include injury statistics, near miss reports and other key performance indicators (KPI).

Actively promote Health and Safety policies and communicate all policies and procedures to Operations.

Assist in identify best practices, work with the Safety Manager to develop and implement comprehensive, site-specific Health and Safety policies and procedures that drive a zero injury culture.

Inspect company facilities to detect existing or potential hazards, and recommended corrective or preventive measures where indicated.


Will assist operations in conducting incident investigations and root cause analysis when incidents occur and ensure corrective actions are put in place to prevent recurrence.

Assist in the development, implementation and maintenance of environmental, health, and safety programs, procedures and practices necessary to provide for safe and healthy working conditions for employees and operate the facility in an environmentally responsible manner.

Makes recommendations to the Plant Manager to improve layout of products in the plant to improve effectiveness of food safety, sanitation and other related programs.

Assist the safety manager and management team in setting standards for personal protective equipment and machine guarding.

Conduct safety meetings and training with plant employees

Provide training resources and conduct training when necessary

Conduct new hire training during new hire orientation

Conduct training drills in emergency evacuation and emergency response situations as well as providing health training resources for Supervisors and Managers

Assist Corporate Safety and Loss Control Manager.

Requirements

Education and/or Experience • B.S. degree in Safety, Environmental Sciences, Natural Sciences and 2 to 4 years of experience managing a comprehensive safety program OR B.S. degree in a related field and 5 to 7 years of experience managing a comprehensive safety program Knowledge/Skills •Superior written and verbal communication skills - Advanced •Must possess strong problem resolution skills. - Advanced •Time management skills – Advanced •Must be able to effectively communicate both written and verbally with all level of employees •Must be proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook etc.) •Bilingual a plus
