Summary:

The purpose of this position is to fine, polish and de-block surfaced lens to provide optical clarity.

Essential Responsibilities:

1. Powers up finer and polishing equipment and performs equipment validation process.

2. Selects appropriate metal lap from rack for each lens and place it into the tray.

3. Looks for ARC, knife edge lenses and safety accordingly.

4. Scans tray or enter material manually and choose appropriate pad.

5. Operates multiple fining and polishing machines simultaneously.

6. Fines lens for predetermined amount of time according to lens material.

7. Places fined lenses back in tray, removes pad from metal lap and sends tray down the line to the polisher.

8. Turns off polish tank and inspect condition of filters, Turns on tank and checks polish level and checks Baume of polish.

9. De-blocks lens using lens ring and return laps on return conveyor.

10. Places used block/alloy into bin to be recycled.

11. Removes protective lens tape and discard.

12. Verifies the polish temperature.

13. Re-stocks lens laps after polishing.

14. Peels off the old gripper pads, remove glue and polish and place new gripper pad in the center of the metal lap.

15. Initials the surface equipment verification log to confirm machine validation.

16. Performs a walk-through at the end of the day.

17. May rotate among other functions within the department.

Education:

A high school diploma or GED equivalency is required.

Experience & Background:

Prior manufacturing and/or machine operator experience preferred.

Language Skills:

Ability to read work orders in English.

Mathematical Skills:

Basic addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.

Reasoning Ability

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

Ability to work varying schedules to include nights, weekends, holidays and overtime. Ability to operate equipment. The noise level in this location is moderate (use of computers, printers and machines).
