About this job

Optum is seeking a Senior Research Consultant with excellent healthcare analytics skills to join the team and work on numerous predictive analytic initiatives within Optum. This individual will be key in supporting statistical model development and data analysis via SAS. These methods will be complex in nature and cross a wide range of issues that deal with measuring health care services including cost, utilization, quality and risk.


 


Primary responsibilities:



  • Supporting methodology and statistical modeling creation via SAS

  • Ad hoc analysis and data mining

  • Collaborating with internal and/or external stakeholders to redesign and/or modify original research plans based on initial findings and results

  • Synthesizing/integrating data and information in order to analyze findings and interpret results

  • Reviewing results of analyses to assess the validity of findings (e.g., identify outliers or unusual trends)

  • Interpreting trends and analyses to draw relevant conclusions and communicate to stakeholders

  • Documenting logic and process and summarizing findings of data analysis

Requirements

Required Qualifications:



  • Minimum 5 years' experience with analysis work using SAS in the healthcare industry

  • BS in Mathematics, Statistics or related field

  • Experience in predictive modeling, data manipulation, reporting, and analysis

  • Strong knowledge of healthcare administrative data (medical claims, enrollment, provider data) or clinical data systems (Electronic medical records, hospital monitoring systems, etc.)

  • Working knowledge of relational databases

  • Proficiency in MS Office applications

  • Capable of driving business result through modeling and segmentation implementation, analysis and refinement

  • Strong written and communication skills; ability to provide concise and clear analysis to management

Preferred Qualifications:



  • Master's in Statistics or related field

  • Experience in R programming
