Primary Responsibilities:



  • Develop ASO pricing methodologies and assumptions for the self-funded business
  • Perform data mining and actuarial analysis that impact pricing assumptions, including support for your pricing development
  • Build actuarial and financial models for pricing
  • Develop a process that connects financial reporting into pricing data for the self-funded business
  • Analyze financial reports to explain the impact of changes to the impact on the pricing model; you will be analyzing the expense side of the general ledger during your analysis
  • Lead the monthly reporting process for self-funded pricing, which takes sold self-funded groups into useable data for UMR accounting, finance and/or management as well as actuarial pricing
  • Lead the process for improved data management and controls of the pricing/reporting process, find efficiencies in the tie out process, and improve the infrastructure to allow more flexibility as new business needs arise (new clients, finance changes, etc.)
  • Design and run complex data programs
  • Discuss numbers with Finance, Accounting, Actuaries, Underwriters, etc.
  • Other ad hoc work as requested

Requirements

Required Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree
  • On the Actuarial exam track, having passed 4 or more Actuarial exams
  • 3+ years of Actuarial experience
  • Experience in the insurance industry
  • Expertise working with formulas, calculations, charts, graphs in MS Excel
  • Ability to communicate complex information
  • Basic level of proficiency in databases (examples are Access, SAS, SQL, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications:



  • ASA (Associate of the Society of Actuaries) or FSA (Fellow of the Society of Actuaries) designation
  • Prior pricing experience
