The Registered Nurse shall be responsible for assessing, planning, supervising and evaluating the nursing care of patients and for correlating the nursing process, the medical plan of care and policies.

Must contribute to ensure all patients receive required care. Participate in and encourage staff involvement in the hospital and unit performance improvement process. Must perform efficiently in emergency and critical situations. Must contribute toward a harmonious and well managed team. Assure compliance with hospital policies and all governing rules and regulations. Assume responsibility for supervising and coordinating the unit's staff and operations. Assist the Nursing Unit Director in the clinical supervision of the nurses in the unit.

Employees must observe professional ethics in maintaining confidential information acquired regarding person, financial, medical or employment of patients, families, and employees of Blackwell Regional Hospital. Employees must also follow and enforce accepted safety practices for patients and Blackwell Regional Hospital; they must report hazards and initiate appropriate action; and must participate in safety instructional programs.

Education: Must possess a current Oklahoma License as a Registered Nurse.

Experience: Desirable characteristics include at least one year of experience as an RN, preferably in the area of application. Must be able to follow directions and perform work according to department standards when no directions are given. Must be emotionally mature and able to function effectively under stress.

Skills: PC skills or applicable computer experience.

Licenses/Certifications: Must possess a current Oklahoma license as a Registered Nurse. Must obtain and maintain a current certification in CPR. Emergency Department - BLS, ACLS, PALS; Medical Surgical and O.R. - BLS required; ACLS and PALS may be required depending on jub duties. These certifications must be obtained prior to the end of orientation to department and position.
